Do you need help determining your ring size? No matter where you are in Australia, Europe, or the UK, this information will help you determine your ring size.
These are our top tips to measure your ring size at home. To get your ring size more precise; you can visit a manufacturing jewel store.
HOW TO MEASURE
Remember that your fingers will grow and shrink over time. Your fingers will be more prominent in the evenings due to hormones, weather conditions, medication, hydration, and other factors.
Measuring your ring multiple times a day or for several days is wise to get the right size.
The most important thing is that the ring you choose should be comfortable. If you feel warm, your fingers will expand more efficiently.
WHAT TYPE OF RING SHOULD I CHOOSE?
It all comes down to the ring that you are most comfortable with. Your ring should fit comfortably on your finger so that it doesn’t slip off. However, it should be loose enough to slide over your knuckles and allow for natural changes in your finger size throughout the day (and every month for many women).
A ring should be easy to put on and take off. It should be comfortable to wear.
WHAT IF THE EXACT SIZE YOU NEED IS NOT AVAILABLE?
Because there are so many different ring sizes, jewelry stores (including our online jewelry shop.” What do you do if your exact size is not available in the shop?
If the difference between your ring size and the actual size is manageable, it’s best to choose the closest size. You may not be able to find the right size for you if you are outside the range of sizes offered by the store.
Given the importance (and sometimes high-priced) of wedding and engagement rings, I recommend buying them without having a sized ring made. You’ll probably be wearing them every day for many years.
SHOULD YOU GO BIGGER OR SMALLER
You should always choose a slightly larger ring size than a smaller one if you are in between sizes. It’s not good to have a ring that is too tight or difficult to remove.
WIDEBAND ROCKERS
A larger size is required if you are purchasing a ring or a set of rings with a wider band (over 7mm or 0.27″). Use the US numerical sizes to increase half your height or use the total length of the Australian and British alphabetical ring sizing systems.
KNUCKLES LARGE
You will need to be able to slide the ring over more prominent knuckles. This is especially important for people with arthritis.
This will allow you to measure the area of your finger where your ring will be placed. You should choose a size between your finger and knuckle sizes. Make sure the ring fits over your knuckle.
WHAT MEASURING SYSTEM SHOULD I USE?
Different countries have different measurement systems, adding to the complexity of ring sizes. These are the two most popular:
Dimensions of the Alphabetical (or WheatSheaf) ring used in Australia, the UK, and other countries (for women and men).
Use of numeric ring sizes in the US, Canada, and many parts of Asia (for both men and women).
Most Australian jewelers and jewelry stores, including Simone Walsh Jewellery, will accept either system.
Both systems can be used to determine ring sizes for men and women. Different countries have their ring sizes, so jewelers will use that system. However, they should be able to convert the sizes quickly enough. We use both these systems to size Simone Walsh rings. You can also tell us which size you have.
Other ring size measurement systems exist. Parts of Europe use the ISO standard. To simplify things, the size number corresponds to the internal circumference of a band in millimeters. A standard European system also uses numbers based on ISO measurements. However, it subtracts 40mm from the number. This system uses a 44mm ISO ring as a size 4.

A QUICK AND DIRTY MEASURING METHOD
Here’s a quick but not exact ring sizing technique that you can use if you need to make an immediate decision and are willing to take a chance. This method is best done with the assistance of someone.
A long, flexible strip of paper should be cut to approximately 15cm (6″) in length and 0.5cm (0.25″) in width.
Wrap the piece around your finger, ensuring it rests precisely where you usually wear rings.
When you feel a snug fit, mark the spot where the paper meets.
You can measure the distance using a ruler that shows millimeters and fractions of an inch.
Use our ring measurement chart to determine the size closest to your measurements.
GO TO A JEWELER
If you can find a local manufacturer jeweler or a higher-end jewelry shop, go in and have your fingers professionally measured. Keep track of your fingers’ sizes so you can keep a record.
You should be aware that the size of your fingers can change with weight loss, weight gain, and other factors. It’s worth rechecking your measurements later.
